Lesson 15 – Motivation Letter

When job seeking, you should be ready to tell potential employers who you are and what you are about, other than what your online social media profile might tell them. For this there are several tools (normally they will be required), in order to apply to a specific opportunity.

A motivation letter, also known as a cover letter, is a document typically submitted along with a job application, internship application, or scholarship application. The purpose of the letter is to introduce the applicant and express their interest in the opportunity, as well as to provide information on why they are qualified for the position or program.

A well-written motivation letter should highlight the applicant’s relevant skills, experience, and education, and demonstrate their understanding of the organization or program they are applying to. The letter should also explain why the applicant is particularly interested in the opportunity and what they hope to gain from it. Overall, a motivation letter should make a compelling case for why the applicant is the best candidate for the position or program.

A motivation letter should contain the following information:

Introduction: The letter should begin with a formal introduction, including your name and the position you are applying for.

Explanation of interest: This section should explain why you are interested in the position and how it aligns with your career goals.

Qualifications: Highlight your relevant skills and qualifications for the position. Use specific examples to demonstrate how you have used these skills in the past.

Personal traits: Mention any personal traits that make you a good fit for the position. This could include your work ethic, communication skills, or ability to work in a team.

Closing: End the letter with a strong closing statement, expressing your enthusiasm for the position and your desire for an interview.

Overall, a motivation letter should be concise, well-written, and tailored to the specific job you are applying for.
